Hi, I reckon this is the right place to ask about something connected with old Stockport. Has anyone any photos of the former Brinksway Dyeing Company, which closed in 1958? It was situated on the main Brinksway road and the buildings backed onto the River Mersey (the oldest of the buildings still does).
The two buildings that are now on the front of the road may be the originals that have been refaced and rebuilt, or the original buildings may have since been demolished and rebuilt. I am particularly interested in the white faced and red brick building that is now called United House. It is the last building going up Brinksway before the brick wall that is on top of the cliffs overlooking the river. I need to see a photo of this building as it would have looked in the early 1950s.
I would also particularly like to find out if anyone, particularly a man or two men, was living in this building in 1953...perhaps in some sort of bedsit or flat. Perhaps the building wasn't part of the dye works and was separate to it. I know this will all seem mighty mysterious to you, but I do have a very good reason for wanting to find out about this building and any occupants that were there when I was a little boy.
Many Thanks in advance from David.
